The Bichon Frise is a popular dog choice among toy animal lovers. What is most appealing is the fact that they are lap-dogs. They are cute, cuddly and sweet in temperament. If you want your Bichon Buddy to enjoy many years with you, then take care of him and pay attention to any allergies or health problems he might have. Be sure and treat them right away!
The most common allergy with Bichon Frises is skin allergies. Skin allergies are most common during the summer, and if not prevented can lead to a miserable time for both you and your Bichon Buddy. Summer brings out fleas, mosquitoes and ants that can (and will!) bite your pet. Perhaps this doesn’t sound like a big deal to you, but once bitten, your dog will scratch and continue to scratch until he/she has created an open wound. This can then lead to an infection. In order to prevent this from happening you will need to treat your dog with flea medication and also treat your yard to prevent or at least minimize the bugs in your yard.
Remember if the itching is caused due to fleas then you must treat and remove the fleas before your dog can begin to heal.
